ROSTOV-ON-DON: Police in southern Russia say two officers have been killed in the volatile Caucasus province of Ingushetia.
Ingushetia's Interior Ministry says two unidentified men opened fire on a police car on Sunday, killing two officers in the Sunzhen district of the violence-plagued province.
Russia's North Caucasus region suffers frequent attacks connected to Islamist separatist militants. Many are apparently loosely grouped under the Caucasus Emirate movement, which Russian officials say has al-Qaida connections.
Ingushetia borders Chechya, where government troops have fought two wars against the Muslims in the past 16 years.
